(1) Recap of the Momaya Press Awards Ceremony 2005

Writers, judges, and readers packed out the London Review Bookshop at the 2 December 2005 Momaya Press Awards Ceremony. Writers shared their inspiration for particular stories and their plans for their writing in the future. Last year's winners discussed how their winning of the competition has inspired them to take the next step in their literary career - including writing a comic novel and entering/winning over 15 competitions in a single year! It was uplifting to see the impact that Momaya has had on readers and writers alike, and we hope that the readers of this newsletter will consider entering the Momaya Short Story Competition 2006 and attending this year's prize ceremony.

You may view photos and quotes from the Momaya Awards Ceremony 2005 at www.momayapress.com/2005awards.htm.

(2) Momaya Short Story Competition 2006 - Now Open!

Stories can be submitted on any topic, but there is a special focus on Escape. The top 10 winners of the Short Story Competition and an additional selection of stories focusing on "Escape" will be printed in the Momaya Annual Review 2006.

Escape is a theme common to us all. Sometimes we long to escape a boring job, a loveless marriage, and distressed family situation. Sometimes we need to escape a prison, a repressive regime, a burning building. Escape can be dramatic, funny, dangerous, exciting, traumatic. Think of "Kavalier and Clay" by Michael Chabon, "Empire of the Sun" by J. G. Ballard, "Vernon God Little" - by D B C Pierre, "The Handmaiden's Tale" by Margaret Atwood. We look forward to reading your own tales.

Short stories of up to 2,500 words can be submitted at www.momayapress.com/contest.htm.

(3) Marketing interns sought

As Momaya Press seeks to expand it's worldwide promotion of the short story, we find that we could use extra support. We seek someone who is willing to work on a pro bono basis and is highly motivated. In return, we will provide mentorship, a good reference, and publishing experience. Interested candidates can be based anywhere in the world, as you will work remotely. Interested candidates should email: infouk@momayapress.com

You are invited to forward this email to other writers and readers. You may sign up to this newsletter at http://www.momayapress.com/newsletter.htm
